President Akufo-Addo has declared categorically that teaching does not make one wealthy.
According to him, teaching is a selfless act that one performs without expecting to become a billionaire overnight.
Speaking to a small group of people, Akufo-Addo stated that teachers cannot expect to grow rich or become billionaires purely through their profession.
He went on to say that if teachers truly want to achieve financial independence, they would have to do more… rely on other sources of income and explore other occupations.
These remarks by President Akufo-Addo have muddied the waters when it comes to the well-being of Ghanaian teachers. Teachers in Ghana are underpaid in contrast to their counterparts in other nations.
As a result, while President Akufo-remarks Addo’s may appear to be correct and true, they are detrimental to Ghana’s condition, particularly given his position as President.
