MTN Hitmaker is one of Ghana’s most popular talent shows. The show has given birth to some of the best musical acts in the country. Hitmaker premiered in 2012 and has since aired for nine seasons.
Musicians such as Kidi, Kurlsongx, and Lasmid are among the show’s winners who have done well for themselves. However, some artists who did not win the competition have gone on to achieve great success.
We put together a list of some of the biggest stars who appeared on Hitmaker but did not win.
Kuami Eugene.
Kuami Eugene is a well-known Ghanaian musician. In 2016, the Afrobeat sensation competed in the fifth season of Hitmaker, finishing as the second runner-up. Despite not winning the competition, Eugene is making a name for himself in the music industry.
2. Fameye.
Fameye, also known as Peter Famiyeh Bozah, appeared in one of the first seasons of Hitmaker. In 2013, he appeared on the show’s third season. He did not advance to the program’s finals, but he has since become a successful music artist. Fameye rose to prominence with songs like “Nothing I Get.”
3. Mr Drew.
Andrews Commey Otoo, better known as Mr Drew, finished first runner-up in season six of Hitmaker. Mr Drew was a fan favorite who came close to winning but was defeated by Freda Rhymz. Drew, on the other hand, has gone on to greater things and is now regarded as one of Ghana’s best vocalists.
4. Camidoh.
Camidoh, an Afrobeat sensation, auditioned for a spot among the final twelve on an episode of Hitmaker but was not chosen. The ‘Sugarcane’ sensation is now one of Ghana’s hottest acts and is making waves around the world. Despite not being chosen for the show, he has been a success.
5. Black Sherif.
Black Sherif is one of Ghana’s most talked-about musicians right now. Music legends such as Dj Khaled are endorsing the young talent who did not make it to the final show after auditioning for Hitmaker. Sherif has done exceptionally well for himself.
