“If had the power, i will have legalized weed and banned Prostitut!on”– Sista Afia
Sista Afia, a popular Ghanaian singer born Fransisca Gawugah, has declared that if given the chance, she would decriminalize marijuana use instead of prostitution and LGBTQ rights.
In Ghana, practically everyone is talking about legalizing marijuana and LGBTQ rights, but the government is ignoring it, particularly marijuana.
Although marijuana has been allowed for industrial purposes in the country and is regulated by the Narcotic Control Commission, consuming it is strongly discouraged.
Similar to the legalization of LGBTQ in the country, there is an anti-LGBT Bill in parliament to outlaw it, therefore gays and lesbians are considering relocating to other countries because the bill will constitute a severe threat to them if it is eventually accepted.
In a recent interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, Sista Afia stated that if given the opportunity, she would rather legalize the herbs because they are extensively used by men, but she also frowns on the act of sodomy.
