Erceg relocated to Germany from Croatia at the age of four, accompanied by his parents. Initially, they settled in Tübingen. After completing his high school education, he ventured to New York for a period of time. From 1996 to 2000, Erceg underwent acting training at the European Theater Institute in Berlin, concurrently attending the Grotowski Center in Pontedera, Italy.

In 1998, he made his theatrical debut on the Hanns Eisler Studio Stage in Berlin. In 2001/2002, Erceg showcased his acting prowess in the short film Kiki and Tiger, directed by Alain Gsponer. This caught the attention of Hans Weingartner, who subsequently cast him in the feature film The Fat Years Are Over, which competed at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.

Following this, Erceg appeared in the film SommerHundeSöhne, directed by Cyril Tuschi. He demonstrated his affinity for portraying complex characters in the critically acclaimed film Der Typ (2003) and the television film Kahlschlag (2006), both helmed by Patrick Tauss. In 2007, Erceg portrayed RAF terrorist Holger Meins in the film adaptation of Stefan Aust’s bestselling book, The Baader-Meinhof Complex. In 2013, Erceg co-founded the film production company ‘NONDUAL PRODUCTIONS’ with author Alexei Schipenko.

The company has thus far produced films such as Synchronized, in which Erceg played the lead role, and Globo de Fogo. Since 2014, they have collaborated with the theater CTB Companhia de Teatro de Braga/Portugal to pursue film projects that integrate theater and film work. In 2014 and 2015, they produced the documentary Semana Santa and the feature film Fideliche.
