A recent hit-and-run incident resulting in the death of a 64-year-old pedestrian is currently being probed by law enforcement.
Who is Stephanie Peterson?
Stephanie Peterson, a 64-year-old resident of Shelton, met with a tragic accident when she was struck by a car while crossing Howe Avenue and White Street just before midnight on Jan. 6.
Stephanie Ann Peterson, originally from Bridgeport, had moved to Howe Avenue in Shelton. The family disclosed that the beloved grandmother was returning home from her job at Stop & Shop in Ansonia shortly after midnight on Saturday, Jan. 6, when the accident occurred, mere feet away from her residence.
The driver involved in the incident, who initially fled the scene, has been identified and is currently cooperating with the police, according to statements by Bango.
Bango additionally mentioned that an arrest related to this incident is imminent, although an exact timeline was not provided.
According to reports from the Shelton Herald, Peterson was en route home from her job at Stop and Shop in Ansonia when the collision transpired, a few hundred feet away from her Shelton residence.
A candlelight vigil was organized on Wednesday night in memory of Peterson. Brianna Puccie, a friend and coworker, fondly recalled Ann Peterson as a selfless individual.
“I know you’re in a much better place; I know you’re looking down on all of us,” she said during the vigil.
Shelton police have affirmed their commitment to arresting in connection to the incident.
