I don’t know why they tried to destroy my hard-earned reputation because I never touched or slept with Ebony’s dead body at the mortuary. These are the exact words of the mortuary man who was in charge of Ebony’s corpse.
Mr. Ebenezer Essilifie, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Mortuary Workers Association, claims that morticians sleep with dead bodies, especially beautiful women.
No mortuary man will stoop so low to sleep with dead bodies, according to Mr. Ebenezer Essilifie, who was criticized at the time.
M. Ebenezer Essilifie was accused of fingering and sleeping with Ebony’s dead body after videos of the late Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeats artist being processed for preservation went viral.
“Let me take this opportunity to address certain issues for the first time,” Mr. Ebenezer Essilifie said in an interview with AMBASSADOR TV, hosted by Josephine Esi Pipitha, a.k.a. Pipi. “I worked on Ebony’s body and was accused of sleeping with her and fingering her.”
“Though I chose not to listen to the rumor and not to discuss it, I wish to dispel Ghanaians’ misconceptions about mortuary men. No mortician can sleep with a dead body.”
The police investigators told him to open Ebony’s body while he was at the mortuary working on her body, he said.
“I was wearing gloves and used my hand to open her trouser for the investigators to do their investigation.”
The mortuary man who worked on Ebony’s body was later caught sleeping with her at the mortuary, Ghanaians said. “I was shocked to hear that because I didn’t do it”, he said.
