Takoradi woman bought her fake pregnancy for Ghs 30
Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman at the center of a highly publicized claimed pregnancy and kidnapping story, purchased her fake pregnant baby bulge for GHS30 at the Takoradi Market Circle, according to reports.
When the victim, who is now a suspect in police custody, was arraigned before the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on Monday, September 27, the Prosecutor made this information public during his presentation in court.
Josephine confessed to faking her pregnancy and kidnapping on Friday, September 24, in the company of her mother, a few medical professionals, and police officers, according to her attorney, Emmanuel Basintale. Basintale stated that Josephine was not under any pressure at the time of her confession.
Josephine Panyin Mensah is charged with two counts of deceiving a public officer and one count of publishing false news with the goal to induce fear and panic, both felonies.
When she appeared in court, she, on the other hand, entered a not guilty plea to the allegations against her.
His Honour Michael Cudjoe Ampadu, the judge presiding over the case, granted her bail in the sum of GHS 50,000 with two sureties.
The matter has been postponed until October 14, 2021, when it will be heard again.
