After years of bringing her marriage which was blessed with two kids to a sudden end, Kumawood actress Portia Asare has finally opened up on the issue as she reveals what led to the divorce.
Portia Asare in December 2013 married Rev. John Wilberforce Aidoo at a beautiful white wedding ceremony at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Tema Community 5 but the marriage hit the rock.
Explaining what was the cause, Portia said the period she was married to her ex-husband was very unhappy for her and there was no point in staying in the marriage.
Speaking to Deloris Frimpong on the delay show last Saturday, the actress said her ex-husband was neither violent nor a womanizer “but we just didn’t click”. She continued that “I did what a wife would do to make her husband happy. My direction was different from his so we could not make things work,”
“I was married to him for five years but separated for two years and we finally called it off”.
When asked whether marrying a man of God was the issue, she said “I am a devoted Christian who loves to serve God so marrying a pastor was not the issue. I am not the first woman to be divorced neither would I be the last,”
“I hoped to get a man and build a family together and if things did not work out I just had to move on,” she added.
Portia Asare explained that there was nothing wrong with being a divorcee and she was hoping marry again. “I have two children, a boy and a girl, but I will definitely marry again. I know there is a man out there who will love and cherish me even though I have two children,”
Meanwhile, in May last year(2019), Portia Asare took to an interview with blogger Zionfelix and revealed that She did not marry Rev. John Wilberforce Aidoo out of love but was rather forced into the marriage by her family and friends.
