“I stopped going to church because they refuse to bury my father because I was owing tithe and dues” – Lady reveals

Many Christians have stopped attending certain churches for one reason or another, but a young lady’s explanation for why she stopped going has gotten many people talking and sharing their interesting experiences.

The Nigerian woman who uses the Twitter handle @Miss ezeani claims that her late father was a devout Christian who devoted his entire life to serving God and paid his dues up until the point where he became ill with an illness that impacted the family’s ability to provide for themselves financially.

She related how his father was a well-known figure in the congregation due to the fact that he attended church on a consistent basis and never missed a Sunday. Nonetheless, it is fascinating to note that after the man passed away, the church announced that because he had not paid certain dues when he should have, they would not be included in his burial.

She added that other things had occurred that gave her sufficient reason to stop attending church, but the development that occurred after her father passed away was the final straw that broke the camel’s back. She said that other things had occurred that gave her sufficient reason to stop attending church.

“They threatened not to bury my father until we paid off his outstanding balance after he passed away,” I said. Since long before I was born, he had been an extremely active member of the group. – The church was one of his favorite places. He wouldn’t miss a Sunday, even if it meant being wheeled to church on his deathbed. – He made a significant contribution in EVERY way. Everyone was aware that his illness depleted our bank account, which resulted in overdue payments. Yet… Regardless, amongst other things, this was the final straw,” It was written by @Miss ezeani.

In response to a query from Instablog9ja to her Twitter followers, she revealed this information. The question asked, “What caused you to stop going to church?”

Others have been moved to talk about their own experiences as a result of her revelation, and others have expressed sympathy for her predicament, saying that such practices are commonplace in some traditional churches.

A user on Twitter by the name of @Goldzuchi wrote the following: “Catholic Church did it to my friend, they had to just beg a different church to do the burial, and to this day he does not go to church.”

It would appear that a significant number of Christians have had unpleasant and disheartening encounters at the hands of churches, which are supposed to be places of worship where members can seek solace when they are going through difficult times.
