Sad Video of a Homeless Ghanaian Man in Italy Begging for Help to Return to Ghana

A homeless Ghanaian man in Italy, who is sleeping under a highway bridge, is pleading for assistance in returning to Ghana.

Wofa Thomas stated that the Ghanaian Embassy in Rome requested that he provide proof of his citizenship before being sent to Ghana.

In a conversation with blogger Kwaku Manakan, the beleaguered man opened up about his plight and need for assistance.

Wofa Thomas, a Ghanaian man living in Italy who has a partial vision impairment, has recounted his heartbreaking plight as a homeless person.

Wofa Thomas, who is said to have been denied citizenship by the Ghanaian Embassy in Rome, has been left to fend for himself in the European country.

He arrived in Italy’s capital after receiving assurances from someone promising to assist him in securing his documents back to Ghana. Thomas, on the other hand, has been stranded since his arrival in Rome.

Wofa Thomas said, when he visited the Ghana Embassy in Rome, he was asked to present documents proving his nationality before being returned to Ghana.

Some Ghanaians’ reactions.

“I knew this would happen in Italy before I left, and I was advising my people not to joke about Italy life because the Italians are not willing to help us with documents, so if you have documents, do everything you can to leave that country,” she says.
According to Alexander Kwessie:

“These guys had the opportunity to travel to Europe during Rawlings’ time, but now see them, they are those who have made it difficult for Blacks to travel abroad, they went there and depending on the government you see, especially the Akans.”
According to Shaibu Dabre:

“It will be extremely difficult for the embassy to assist simply through word of mouth. He must demonstrate his Ghanaian citizenship.”
