I dropped out of School in JHS 3 due to Drug addiction – 17-years old girl laments
Drug addiction in the country of late is at its peak and it is affecting mostly the youth despite many attempts by organizations to eradicate this social issue.
A 17-year-old school dropout who is also a girl has given an account on how she got addicted to drugs which in the long run interrupted her education and shuttering her dreams.
Blessing Attah Afua as she identifies her self took to a live Tv and according to her, drug addiction has affected her in many ways and she leveled the blames to her peers and breaking home.
Detailing how it all happened, she indicated that She was staying in Takoradi with her Parents before they relocated to Nungua to settle down but unfortunately, her Parent’s marriage collapsed as they divorced leaving the spouse’s separated.
she attended her JHS education in Nungua under the care of only her mom as her dad had moved to Spintex. When she got to JHS 1, she befriended some boys who were into Marijuana, Gambling, and all sort of unpleasant lifestyle.
As time went on, they thought her how to smoke weed which made her an addict and started to visit the Ghetto regularly regardless. She eventually dropped out of school at JHS 3 at the peak of writing her final exams.
According to Blessing, she wanted to become a Journalist but her dreams have been shattered due to her own stubbornness after going wayward but she is eager to start JHS again, she has learnt her lesson and will never endeavour into drugs again.
