Ghanaians who have failed to register for the Ghana Card will be penalized GH250, according to the National Identification Authority (NIA).
Individuals who were unable to register for national ID cards during the nationwide free mass registration exercise can now do so for a fee, according to the NIA.
The institutional and premium packages would cost GH100 and GH250, respectively.
People who require premium services for their registration would be paid GH250, according to the Authority’s Head of Public Relations, Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu, while institutions with more than 50 employees can invite the NIA to their premises for registration at GH100 per head.
“Registration has always been free,” he explained, “but there are a few exceptions, one of which is dependent on the individual.” Premium registration centers will be built up across the country by NIA.
When you visit one of the premium registration centers, you must spend GH250. Then there’s household registration, which allows you to invite us to your home if you’re a group of five or more people.
“We’ll come to your house and register your family.” Each person pays GH150 for that one. Then we can have institutional registration, in which you invite us to register you; you must have a minimum of 50 persons and each person pays GH100.
You may expect shorter lines and a distinct environment with premium registration.”
