‘Wee’ smokers beat police officers after bribing them GH¢1000 in exchange for their friend who has been arrested
A viral video on Onua Maakye on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, shows several ‘wee’ smokers ruthlessly abusing some members of the Ghana Police Service’s Community Police Assistant (CPA) section with a pestle and other things at Ejisu Juaben in the Ashanti region.
A gang of young males can be seen in the video hitting another man with a pestle, rods, and stones. Another video showed the same gang assaulting another guy, who was bleeding from his lips and nose.
The video is trending on social media, but Onua TV could not display it in its entirety owing to the delicate nature of some of its content.
According to Agya Dan on Onua Maakye Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the two cops underpaid the slum guys for a thousand Ghana Cedis (GH1000), resulting in the beatings.
According to further information, the police detained a friend of the males featured in the video for trafficking in illegal substances.
As a result, the two cops requested the GH1000 from the gang under the pretense of bringing it to their commander in exchange for their friend’s freedom.
They waited for their colleague’s release but received no results. They stormed the police station, demanding an explanation for the delay in their friend’s release.
The slum gang smokes were enraged when they discovered at the station that the CPAs had not given the money to their Station Commander.
“They went to the various homes of the officers and attacked them. The one you see them striking with a pestle is known in the area as Owuraku, 26, who lives in my Electoral Area. The other one is called Exhibit, 33,” Frank Osei, the Assemblyman said on Kumasi-based OTEC FM.
Following the incident, two cops were hospitalized, and six persons in the video who have not yet been named were detained by police in the vicinity for further investigation.
