Ruth and Catherine are the wives of Wanjohi. He has eight children, five with Ruth and three with Catherine.
Both of them are delighted to be married to him. He is described as a hardworking man who treats both of his wives equally.
Ruth, the first wife, first met her husband 22 years ago. Ruth had dropped out of high school at the age of 15, and the two of them were deeply in love and married at the age of 19 years. They have a total of four children, two daughters, and two sons.
Ruth began to notice some shifts in his demeanor. He worked long hours and sometimes stayed up late in Nairobi.
Ruth suspected he was having an affair, but he insisted it was only for work purposes. Ruth suspected he was seeing another woman, and she was correct; Catherine was the one who was causing the changes in his life.
He first met Catherine while working at a clinic. They exchanged phone numbers and began dating. Catherine and Wanjohi decided to move in together after a few months, but he wasn’t ready to leave her.
Ruth was enraged when she learned that her husband had a mistress. Her husband brought her home and introduced her as a nurse who will be caring for his mother.
Ruth and Wanjohi’s marriage was in disarray, and their relationship was crumbling. When Ruth decided to leave her husband and return to her family, he took their children from her and gave them to Catherine in Nairobi in order to retaliate. Who, in turn, took excellent care of the children.
Ruth was shocked to learn that her husband had another wife, but she eventually came to accept it and became friends with the other wife.
Ruth and her husband’s second wife eventually found a way to coexist peacefully. They were able to help care for their shared husband because they respected each other. The first wife is in a lot of pain because she feels betrayed.
