On Friday night, an advance team from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vehicle crashed at Kablipe, a community near Buipe.
The group was en route to Tamale.
According to preliminary accounts, the military officials’ car swerved off the main route between Buipe and Tamale and crashed into some wooded areas.
Sergeant Zorwunu, the driver, was killed instantly on the scene.
Major Hansen Adu Kofi and Captain Badawe Sabastian, the other officers on board, were seriously injured.
They were brought to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.
The disaster occurred just one day after Vice President Bawumia assumed control of the country following President Nana Akufo-10-day Addo’s stay abroad.
