‘There is no place like home, don’t leave Ghana for greener pastures’ – French Ambassador advises (Video)

Anne Sophie-Ave, the French Ambassador to Ghana, has exhorted young Ghanaians to stay at home and build Ghana since there is no place like home.

She made the remarks while speaking to students at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology this week (February 17, 2022).

Sophie-Ave was invited as a Special Guest to the inaugural National Union of Ghana Students, NUGS, General Assembly meeting, which was held at the KSB Block C Auditorium.

“You should not leave the country (Ghana) for greener pastures elsewhere; there is no place like home,” she advised the students in her brief remarks.

She also emphasized the relevance of women to a country’s economy and economic success. “Mothers are the economic cornerstones,” she noted in her comments.

As predicted, those who commented on the post had some queries, such as Valentine Mark, who asked: “Why ain’t you home?” to which the ambassador replied: “Life of a diplomat.”

The ambassador, by far the most active diplomat on social media, had reason to define her duty as a representative of her country in Ghana.

According to her, she has been harassed on a regular basis by Ghanaians seeking her assistance in obtaining visas.

However, in an interview with Joy Prime’s Top Assignment, Anne Sophie-Ave demanded that those bugging her for visas stop because she has no responsibility in obtaining and processing visas.

She stated that the job of the French Consulate, which is in charge of processing visa applications, is fully independent of the embassy that she leads.

“There’s no point calling me or pestering me on social media.” I am unable to obtain a visa. French Immigration makes the choice.

“Thanks to interconnection and the internet, everything is now decided remotely, and all we have to do when we have the agreement is print the visa and stick it in your passport.” “We do not make or reverse decisions taken by the Immigration Service,” she remarked.

While encouraging Ghanaians to apply for French visas through the proper channels, Ambassador Sophie-Avé emphasized that there are procedures in place that lead to the acquisition of a visa.
