“The saddest day in my life will be the day NDC fails to prosecute Chairman Wontumi for Galamsey”- Sammy Gyamfi

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi, has revealed that the next NDC government will investigate and prosecute Bernard Antwi Bosiako, a.k.a. Chairman Wontumi, Ekow Awusi, Charles Bissue, and all key members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their involvement in illegal mining.

He has stated that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute and imprison these individuals for illegally destroying forest reserves, farmlands, and water bodies.

Sammy Gyamfi, speaking to the media in Accra on Thursday, October 6, insisted that if the NDC remains in power and fails to prosecute chairman Wontumi and others to deter others, it will be the saddest day of his life.

“The saddest day in my life will be the day NDC fails to prosecute Chairman Wontumi, Ekow Awusi and Charlse Bissue for engaging in mining without permit.

“We have enough visual evidence to prosecute these people and all the key members of the NPP who are actively engaged in the illegal menace,” he reiterated.

Sammy Gyamfi called President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-renewed Addo’s commitment to fighting galamsey a mirage, a scam, and a lost battle.

He emphasized that the government’s record in combating illegal mining is a dismal failure.
He explained that the NDC is not opposed to mining in the country, but it is opposed to mining in water bodies and expects the government to severely punish those involved in such illegal activities.
