From the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022, Ghana’s entertainment sector was rocked by a series of tragic events.
In the space of four months, a slew of celebrities revealed the deaths of their fathers or moms.
While some of these celebrities were unable to hold back their tears, others chose to cling to memories of how their parents influenced their personalities.
Today, we present a list of Ghanaian celebrities that will lose a father or mother in the year 2022.
Afia Schwarzenegger
Controversial Valentina Nana Agyeiwaya, commonly known as Afia Schwarzenegger, a Ghanaian actress and personality, revealed the death of her father in an emotional statement on social media.
Her father passed away on January 17, 2022, following a long battle with cancer.
“My hero has gone to be with the Lord,” the famed comedian wrote in an emotional post. Daddy, may you rest in peace. “I’m at a loss.”
On January 25, 2022, a one-week memorial was organized to honor the memories of the late father, which was attended by numerous celebrities.
Mzbel
Mzbel, Afia Schwarzenegger’s arch-enemy, also lost her ‘Muslim’ father on January 28, 2022– just a few days after Afia.
Mzbel didn’t take the bad news lightly because she was on the air conducting her radio show at the time.
She abruptly ended her radio show and raced out of the studio, claiming that she needed to meet her late father before he was buried.
SDK
SDK, a popular comedian, died his father on November 21, 2022, following a protracted battle with an unknown illness.
Most of the comedians’ skits included SDK’s father, who was regarded as a hilarious character by most Ghanaians.
He commented on the microblogging network, sharing the terrible news of his father’s death:
He wrote, “Lost my dad today, rest in peace my oldgee.”
Gloria Sarfo.
Many people were moved to tears when actress Gloria Sarfo announced her mother’s death on February 11, 2022.
The Efiewura actress questioned God in an Instagram post, asking why he took her mother after days of pleading him to save her.
Vicky Zugah
Vicky Zugah, a Ghanaian actress and TV host, lost her mother on January 11th.
She disclosed in an Instagram post that her mother had been sick for almost five years and that she had hoped for a miracle, but that it never came.
“You fought for five years. I longed for a miracle for five years. You hung in there for five years. “You left me and my siblings today,” Vicky wrote. A photo of her mother was included in the post.
