After his relationship with actress Nadia Buari came to an end, the renowned footballer married his publicist Puni.
In September 2012, Essien and Puni married in a private ceremony in London.

Essien and Akosua Puni are currently residing in Europe with their two gorgeous children, a boy and a girl.
