Police Officer arrested for rἇp!ng female cell inmate
After reportedly rapping a suspect in a holding cell in late April, a police officer is currently being held by authorities in Mogotio, Baringo County.
His arrest came after a complaint from a 23-year-old woman who was being held at the Mogotio police station for child neglect.
Officer Erick Machuki was accused of raping the victim at around 9 p.m. on April 27, 2022, according to a police report obtained by our outfit. When Machuki allegedly forced himself on the victim, he was said to be on cell sentry duty.
The woman reported the event to police officer Joselyne Jepkoech, who took over Machuki’s cell sentry duty the morning after the alleged incident.
“The reportee was being held at the station as from Tuesday, April 26 as a remandee for the offence of child neglect, awaiting children’s office report at the Eldama Ravine court on May 4,” the police report reads in part.
The event was swiftly investigated, and the victim and the suspect were sent to the Mogotio Sub-County Hospital for medical evaluation.
“Following the evidence on record the officer has been arrested and he will be charged for the offence of rape,” the police report said.
