Benjamin Hundeyi, a spokesman for the Lagos police, said on Tuesday morning that Ifeanyi, the son of musician Davido, had died in what is thought to have been a swimming pool accident.
The tragic news of the death of the singer’s son first surfaced on social media late on Monday night. Actress Eniola Badmus was the one who broke the story by posting it on her Instagram account. After some time, she decided to remove the post.
In a phone conversation that took place on Tuesday morning with PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Hudeyin revealed that several of the singer’s aides and crew members had been detained.
He stated that “eight of them” (employees) had been hauled in to be questioned by the authorities.
He was afraid that the station might come under attack if the location was made public, so he kept it a secret.
Reportedly, the child, who was three years old at the time, drowned in the pool that belonged to his family in Lagos, and he remained submerged for an undetermined amount of time before he was found.
It is said that he was brought to the hospital, but his life could not be saved there.
