“People Dont Care When You Are Alive But Cry And Wants You Back When You Are Dead”- Delay Laments

Not only in Africa, but throughout history, we have a tendency to value people more when they are dead than when they are alive. A person may be suffering from severe depression and emotional trauma, but no one seems to notice.

When that person dies, his or her family and friends gather to mourn him or her bitterly, as if they had ever cared about the deceased. The popular Twi catchphrase “Abusua Do Funu” expresses how people in Ghana value the dead more than the living.

Delay has expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that people cry for the return of a dead person they failed to appreciate while alive.

She wrote on Twitter, “When a person dies, people cry and beg them to come back.” When they’re alive, however, they don’t even show that they care about them. Isn’t it strange?
