“My husband beats me a lot, but i cannot leave him”- lady narrates her heartbreaking story (video)
Alberta Nkansah, 32, lives in Akroma, in Ghana’s Central Region, and says her husband neglects her and their children while beating her severely.
Despite her husband’s disinterest in her, Madam Nkansah told a Crime Check Foundation (CCF) team that she is unable to leave his house.
She said she would rather be assaulted by her husband than be without a place to sleep.
The mother of four described her ordeal, working on other people’s farms to feed her children.
She told the CCF team she didn’t have GHc1 and didn’t know how she was going to feed her kids.
Her unresponsible husband beats her if she does not serve him food.
He changed after meeting another woman. I’ve known him since I was 12 and he wasn’t like this. “My parents don’t own a home, so if I leave him, I’ll be homeless,” she said.
“If I report him to the cops, I’m done. “He’ll kill me when he’s free,” she said.
Nkansah recalls being six months pregnant and not seeking prenatal care, while her husband looked on unconcerned as she nearly died.
In her difficult life, she wishes for help to rent a room and start a business.
I told my aunty about my ordeal, but she said she lived alone and couldn’t share her room with me. With your help, I will leave my husband and rent a room to start a business to help the kids, “she said.
CCF provided her with Ghc 400 in initial support while the public contributes.
Nkansah is not the only one who received help. Elizabeth, 30, received a hundred Ghana cedis while Mary Tetteh and Philip Gyatsi each received four hundred Ghana cedis.
The donation came from Lydia Fassbender, a German individual, and ‘The Blessing,’ a group.
The recipients thanked CCF and the donors.
“God bless the donors,” they said.
