KNUST honors 3 students who saved their colleague from committing suicide – Watch video

The Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology took the opportunity to recognize and honor the heroic actions of three students who saved the life of a fellow student.

Theophilus Amo Oduro Aboagye, Kwabena Amoako Marfo, and James Michael Mozley Nsafoa were presented with a special award by Professor Akosua Dickson during the Vice Chancellor’s Students’ Excellence Awards ceremony.

On July 4, 2023, these three students acted swiftly when they noticed their colleague in distress, hanging on a balcony and in imminent danger of falling from a multi-story building at a private lodging facility on campus.

The entire incident was caught on video, capturing the dramatic moment when the trio grabbed onto the victim and successfully pulled him to safety.

Following the rescue, the three students promptly transported their colleague to a medical facility, where the university confirmed he received the necessary psychological support. Their quick thinking and selfless actions undoubtedly saved a life.

The Vice Chancellor’s Students’ Excellence Awards ceremony, held at the prestigious KNUST Great Hall, was the perfect occasion to acknowledge the bravery and heroism of these three individuals. They received the well-deserved “Special Award Category” for their remarkable act of courage.

In addition to their recognition, 43 other individuals were also honored at the ceremony for their outstanding contributions in the fields of sports and academics. The event served as a platform to celebrate and appreciate the remarkable achievements of the university’s students.

The atmosphere during the ceremony was one of admiration and appreciation, as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akosua Dickson, commended the recipients for their exceptional efforts and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their respective fields.

The heroic actions of Theophilus Amo Oduro Aboagye, Kwabena Amoako Marfo, and James Michael Mozley Nsafoa will forever be remembered as a testament to the spirit of unity and compassion among the students at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
