Kasoa k!lling: Teenagers who k!lled 10-year-old boy appears in High Court for the first time as trial begins
The two Kasoa teen boys charged with the murder of a 10-year-old boy, Ishmael Mensah Abdullah, have appeared in court for the first time to begin their trial.
On August 16, last year, the Kaneshie District Court committed the two to stand trial for murder.
The two accused appeared in court without lawyers on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
Dorcas Sellie, a State Attorney, told the Accra High Court’s Criminal Division, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, that the accused were represented by counsel during the committal stage, and thus no action could be taken without lawyers.
“This is our first appearance, and because this is an indictment trial, we cannot take any action in their absence.”
“We will petition the court for an adjournment so that we can communicate the next court date to their counsel,” the state attorney requested.
Her Ladyship Justice Osei Marfo urged the accused to notify their lawyers of the next adjourned date on which the court would conduct an “important exercise.” The case has been rescheduled for February 2, 2022.
