popular Ghanian rapper Kwame Nsiah-Apau aka Okyeame Kwame has recounted the difficulties he went through during his return from the US being broke, which was three years after the Akyeame group shot to stardom.
in an interview with Kingdom 101.9 Fm hosted by Fiifi Prat, the rap doctor spoke about his days with the friend Okyeame Quophi and the brand name Akyeame, from how they started to the cause of it dissolving.
according to him, the success of the band Akyeame could be attributed majorly to Mark Okreku Mantey and their London based financier Andrews Opoku Amankwaah.
speaking on what collapsed the band, he revealed that it came in when they returned from the States after being employed to do menial jobs for two years there. he added that those days he returned to Ghana with only $1000 dollars in his account.
his friend and brother Quophi on the other hand was comfortable as he got a job with Fox Fm on his return leading to his(Quophi) loss in interest for the music business.
Kwame, however had to get on his grind and focus on music because it had become his only means of survival hence their break up.
