John Arthur, a 45-year-old painter from Race Course in Sowutuom, an Accra suburb, is being investigated by the Accra Regional Police Command for reportedly defiling a kindergarten girl.
The victim, a KG2 student, and her 8-year-old brother were playing around their house on August 28, 2021, at around 3:00 p.m., when they came across the suspect, sitting in front of a store close to their house.
As per the police, while taking the victim into his lap, John Arthur reportedly gave the victim’s brother his phone to play a game.
The defendant violated the victim while the victim’s brother was busy with the game, according to police.
Unknown to the perpetrator, his act was seen from a safe distance by a neighbor.
He went to the victim’s rescue after videotaping the entire episode. In addition, he informed the victim’s parents.
The parents and other neighbors grabbed the culprit, and a report was made to the Sowutuom Police Station.
At the police station, suspect John Arthur denied defiling the victim.
The investigation is still underway, and attempts are being made to detain the culprit.
