Here Is Why Chairman Wontumi’s Case Against Afia Schwarzenegger Dismissed by Tema High Court
Chairman Wontumi had previously sued Afia Schwarzenegger, Nana Ama McBrown, Aplus, and some panellists of United Showbiz for defamation.
This was after they discussed on live TV a court case between Afia Schwarzenegger and Chairman Wontumi.
Afia Schwarzenegger was sentenced to 10 days in prison for contempt of court, but she later apologized and her lawyer requested a fine instead. She was ordered to sign a bond of good behavior for 36 months and pay a fine of GHC60,000.
Chairman Wontumi had filed a new case against Afia Schwarzenegger, alleging that she had violated the terms of her release in the previous contempt case.
However, the Tema High Court dismissed the case because Chairman Wontumi and his legal team were absent, and Afia’s lawyer was not served any notice to appear in court on May 17, 2023.
According to Afia’s lawyer, Capt. RTD. Nkrabeah Effah Darteh ESQ., the court’s decision to dismiss the case was primarily due to Chairman Wontumi’s absence.
This means that the case has been thrown out and Afia Schwarzenegger is no longer facing any legal action from Chairman Wontumi.
It is important to note that everyone has the right to a fair trial, and this includes being properly notified of any legal proceedings.
In this case, Afia’s lawyer was not served any notice, which is why the case was dismissed. It is also important to follow the terms of any court orders or sentences, as violating them can lead to further legal action.
