Who was Harrison Vaughn?
Harrison Vaughn, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, cultivated a passion for education and sports from his upbringing. He attended Calvary Day School, where he laid the groundwork for his future pursuits.
Balancing academic prowess with athletic excellence, Vaughn distinguished himself in various arenas, molding his character and fostering leadership qualities.
Following his education, Harrison returned to Calvary Day School not as a student but as a mentor and coach. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to shaping the next generation, serving not only as a baseball coach but also as an educator.
His pursuit of excellence and unwavering support for his students transcended classroom confines, leaving an enduring impact on their lives.
As per journalnow.com, Vaughan served as an assistant for the Cougars over the last three years. During this tenure, the Cougars achieved records of 10-5-1, 8-13, and 11-9, respectively, and consistently qualified for the NCISAA 3A playoffs.
In the 2021 season, the Cougars advanced to the first round of the playoffs. The following year, in 2022, they progressed to the second round. This past season, they reached the second round again but were defeated by the No. 7 seed Gaston Christian School with a score of 4-0.
According to MaxPreps, during his time at Calvary Day, Vaughan boasted a batting average of .309 across 29 games as a junior and .317 across 22 games as a senior, earning him the all-conference title in both seasons.
