“Ghanaians always want to pull you down if you are successful”- Jackie Appiah

Award-winning Ghanaian actress Jackie Appiah has joined the chorus of celebs who have grumbled that their countrymen do not back them and instead attempt to bring them down when they (actors) do their best to amuse the populace.

Ghanaians, she claims, have a habit of dragging people down when they strive to be at the summit. This was stated on GTV’s prime-time program, GTV Breakfast.

Pull Him Down Syndrome is a condition in which people (we) do not want to see someone advance in life. We make every effort to target those moving up the socioeconomic hierarchy.

Many Ghanaian personalities, including DKB, Yvonne Nelson, Anokye Supremo, Rev. Yalley, and now Jackie Appiah, have expressed concern that this is ruining the Creative Arts sector by not allowing it to develop and prosper as it should.

Jackie stated, “Nigeria is where it is because they support each other and if we want to get to that level we need to support each other as well”.

“You meet Ghanaians and they watch Ghanaian movies but they will tell you they don’t watch it, sometimes we like to bring ourselves down. Ghanaians have this kind of pull him Down syndrome which is bad, we need to start lifting each other up because we rise by lifting others and that’s what we need to cultivate in Ghana”, she said.
