Ghana Police Service arrests three police officers over involvement in IGP leaked tape
The Ghana Police Service issued a statement this morning requesting the arrest of three police officers for their role in the leaked tape plot to remove the IGP from office.
The three men, COP Mensah, Superintendent Eric Gyebi, and Superintendent George Lysander Asare, were captured on camera scheming the removal of Dr. Dampare, the current Inspector General of Police.
In an audio chat with NPP bigwig Chief Bugri Naabu, the trio revealed that the IGP was ruining the Police Service and that they wanted him replaced with COP Mensah since he is an NPP member.
The topic was reported to Parliament, and a committee was formed on the Speaker’s orders to investigate the matter stated in the leaked recording.
So far, the three officers have met with the committee and told their side of the story, with COP George Alex Mensah and Superintendent George Lysander Asare pledging to give more information during an in-camera session.
