Former president Kufuor subtly supports OccupyJulorbiHouse protest after police brutality
Former president John Agyekum Kufuor’s social media remark on Thursday is perceived as subtly endorsing the OccupyJulorbiHouse protests.
About 49 demonstrators were apprehended by police on September 21, the first day of the demonstrations, on the grounds that they had disregarded a court order that had prohibited the demonstrations.
Protesters are calling for action against the Akufo-Addo administration’s crippling economic crisis and pervasive corruption.
There was a post on Kufuor’s page on X amid the controversies surrounding arrests and their legitimacy.
On Friday, September 22, 2023, Day 2 of the protests, several celebrities participated in the nonviolent demonstrations.
Numerous Ghanaians have expressed gratitude to the former president for the tweet, asserting that he has approved of the posters and denouncing the arrests and purported attacks on the demonstrators.
