Fans rushed an assistant referee in Ghana’s Division One League after he disallowed a goal between New Edubiase and Bekwai Youth FC.
New Edubiase had scored from a corner kick, but the linesman ruled it offside, leading club supporters to attack him.
According to a video released on Twitter, the linesman and his fellow officials had to flee to avoid the enraged crowd.
The game had to be stopped as the officials reached the inner perimeter to seek protection from security.
Several incidences of violent conduct in the Division One league have been documented in the past, with the perpetrators receiving heavy punishment from the FA.
The Ghana Football Association is anticipated to take harsh disciplinary action against the attackers.
