Two men in Kenya, both of whom had been found guilty of infidelity, were able to swap wives amicably by taking advantage of the country’s unique custom of marital exchange.
Men of middle age in Western Kenya have reached an agreement to swap spouses in order to end their feud. It’s amazing that Christopher Auma and Kevin Barraza decided to trade wives, but the real shocker is why they decided to.
The wives told the newsmen that they are happy with the trade and are on a “journey of healing” as a result of the interaction.
Lilian narrated that “it all started when I noticed that Kevin was in love with another husband’s wife and he was always not committed to his responsibility to provide for our house.”
She claims she was resigned to her fate up until the night her husband moved in with his mistress, whom he had previously introduced to her as his cousin.
When confronted, Kevin said that he was “mourning like a widower” since his wife had been stolen and that she was free to live with the mistress, Immaculate’s husband.
According to Lilian, she went to Christopher’s house to break the news to him in the hopes that they could work out their differences peacefully.
“When I got there, I told him everything that happened to me and how his wife was engaged to my husband. I was surprised when Christopher immediately asked me if I will like to live together with me. I also asked him if he will accept me with my children and he agreed”.
Christopher’s sole decision was to “let those who think they are the best live together and let we they say are bad also live together”.
This is how they were able to swap spouses amicably and continue living together happily for many years.
After reporting the incident to authorities, the families and elders involved decided that both brides would give up their wedding gifts and start their married lives with their new husbands.
The couples have signed an agreement promising they will not go back to their former partners under any circumstances, and their children are aware of the marriage swap.
If you ask Kevin and Immaculate, they are really happy with their new spouses and they really don’t give a hoot about what happens in Lilian and Christopher’s marriage.
Both sets of parents are pleased with their children’s spouses, and everyone is having a good time.
