Mawunya Francis, 22, was detained by the Awutu Bereku District Police Command, but his accomplices are still at large after they allegedly killed an Okada Rider at Awutu Bontrase in the Central Region for ritual purposes.
According to the information acquired, Kwabena Ogyam, the rider from Awutu Bontrase to Mfadwen, was hired by Mawunya and his friends, who then allegedly killed him and removed both his body and the motorcycle.
The suspect is suspected of having discreetly buried the deceased’s body in a bush.
On Thursday, July 7, 2022, at night, the Awutu Bereku District Police Command had to use firearms to disperse the enraged mob that had surrounded the police station and was calling for the suspect to be lynched.
In an interview with Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the father of the killed or missing youngster, Kwame Darko disclosed that the suspects had informed their friends that they would commit a ritual killing and use the proceeds to purchase a high-end vehicle before the 2022 Awutu Awubia Annual Festival.
In the meantime, some Okada Riders requested assistance from the police due to the rising number of murders of their fellow riders by criminals.
They are requesting that the Inspector General of Police provide the District with sufficient police personnel right away.
Community members have vowed to help the police find the other conspirators.
