Earlier yesterday, Ama Official, Kay Verli, and Asantewaa appeared in court for the first time since TikToker, 17, was detained roughly two weeks ago.
According to a renowned male TikToker on social media simply known as Captain Caesar, the court acknowledged that Asantewaa is behind the leak of a private video of Ama Official that trended a few weeks ago.
Captain Caesar further stated that Asantewaa paid someone to put Ama Official’s name on the internet as a means of retribution.
However, Asantewaa apologized for her behavior in court and stated that she did everything she could to defend her brother.
She also pleaded with the judge to be understanding because they had lost both parents.
According to the Cybersecurity Act, Asantewaa and Kay Verli are likely to face prison time.
The Cybersecurity Act 2020 attempts to restrict the taking, sharing, or publishing of naked and sexual photos of persons.
Persons who circulate naked photos of others could face fines ranging from $5200 to $10,000 (GH 30,000 to GH60,000) under the law.
They may also face prison sentences ranging from 5 to 10 to 15 or 25 years.
