Scandalous Frozen Bank Accounts of Former Minister Cecilia Dapaah by the OSP.

Former sanitation minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s bank accounts have been frozen by the Special Prosecutor, as they are reported to contain substantial amounts in cedi and dollar currency. While the Special Prosecutor has the authority to administratively freeze accounts linked to subjects of investigations, a court approval is required for further action. A hearing to confirm this development is scheduled for next week, according to Joy News.

According to additional reports from Joy News, the former minister’s bank accounts hold millions in US dollars and cedis. Officials from the Office of the Special Prosecutor also discovered funds during a search of Dapaah’s residences. Court documents reveal that the OSP has filed a motion to seize the funds found during the residence search in July.

Previously, it was reported that Dapaah’s house helps stole cash from her home, including $1 million, €300,000, and an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis. This led to a corruption scandal and Dapaah’s subsequent resignation as minister. Following her arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor for alleged corruption, she was released on bail after being questioned.

Dapaah has since amended her charge sheet against the thieves and has claimed ownership of some stolen $800,000, which others have alleged belonged to her late brother. The number of suspects in the case has grown, with three more individuals included, although one person has been discharged. Currently, seven people are being prosecuted for the theft.
