A tragic incident occurred in the Eshiem community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, as a young man has taken his own life due to a broken heart.
The deceased, identified as Clement, was in his early 20s and worked at a tile manufacturing company called Wang Kang Company in the area.
According to reports, Clement had been contemplating suicide ever since his girlfriend, in whom he had invested a significant amount of money, betrayed him. However, his friends did not take his threats seriously, which ultimately led to this devastating outcome.
Nana Kofi, a spokesperson for the Chief of the community, confirmed the heartbreaking news. He explained that Clement had gone missing a few days ago, and despite efforts to locate him, he could not be found. It was only when a farmer reported a dead body in his rubber farm that Clement’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from a rubber tree.
“We informed the police, and they arrived to retrieve the decomposed body,” Nana Kofi expressed with sorrow.
Further investigations have revealed that Clement had been lavishing his girlfriend with gifts and monetary support. However, she callously abandoned him for another man, which left him unable to bear the pain of losing her.
“The information we have is that he has been complaining about the attitude of his girlfriend for some time now. He has been complaining to his friends that after spending on the lady, she has jilted him for another man. He has been telling his friends about his plans to commit suicide because of the lady but nobody took him seriously until his lifeless body was found hanging on the tree,” he added.
The police have taken charge of the situation and initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances leading up to this tragic incident.
The community is left mourning the loss of a young life, reminding us all of the importance of taking mental health issues seriously and offering support to those in need.
