Prince Benson Mankotam, a young boy from Antwikrom, a small village in the Bono Region, has been called to the bar, fulfilling a childhood ambition.
In a one-on-one interview with Edward Asare, Prince revealed that when he was six years old, he promised his father that he would grow up to be a lawyer.
There were no visible prospects for him to fulfill his dream at the time, but events began to unfold one after the other in accordance with his aspiration.
In 2004, Prince was named the best class six student in the then-Sunyani District and received sponsorship from a generous Ghanaian living in the Netherlands.
This benefactor moved him to Sunyani, to St. Mary’s JHS, where he graduated as one of the school’s four top BECE candidates in 2007, with nine out of ten.
He told his mother in 1998, when he discovered St. Augustine’s College in Graphic Sports, that he would be there, and he was admitted in October 2007.
In Augusco, Prince won Best in Literature in English, Second Best in Government, Third Best in French, and Best Prefect in four years.
Despite the fact that KNUST refused to admit him to the law faculty, he resolved to get a first degree and then study law later.
He graduated from the University of Ghana with a First Class Honours degree in Political Science with Philosophy and Classics, and in 2016, he was admitted to the University of Ghana Faculty of Law.
He then graduated with a second-class upper in 2018 and enrolled in the Ghana School of Law that same year.
On December 17, 2020, the village boy realized a childhood dream by being called to the Bar as a Barrister of Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
According to reports, Prince has told his friends that he will be President of Ghana before the age of 50.
