Watch The Moment Asamoah Gyan Cried On Live TV After Ghana’s Draw With Gabon
During the post-match analysis, Gyan, who was working as an analyst for Super Sports, had tearful and crimson eyes. After 28 minutes of play, captain Andre Ayew put the Black Stars ahead of the Panthers.
After losing their first game, Ghana needed a win to improve their chances of qualifying as a second-place team. Gabon, on the other hand, needed a draw after winning their first game.
However, a 90th-minute goal by substitute Jim Allevinah drew Gabon level, earning the Panthers a crucial point in the Group C match.
Ghana’s all-time leading scorer could not disguise his sadness after the game.
“I’m irritated! This (draw) is a setback for us. Ghana (the team) should have won this game.” On Super Sports, he stated
“I’m not delighted; we earned the three points, but I think we lost focus and allowed a goal in the final minute.” “We can’t keep leaking goals in the closing phases of games,” he continued.
Following the draw, Ghana will need to beat Comoros in their last group game in order to qualify for the last 16 stage as one of the top third-place teams.
On Tuesday, January 18, the Black Stars will face the debutants.
