A British lady who left her dream job at Google to teach people how to twerk has developed a $125,000-a-year company.

Bami Kuteyi, 29, accepted a lucrative position as a marketing executive with Google in 2015, assuming she’d be there for decades.

But the young British woman got disillusioned with corporate life and astonished her colleagues when she departed to launch her own firm, Twerk After Work.

“I feel so much freer and in charge of my own time,” Kuteyi gushed to MyLondon. “I receive messages from people stating they never believed they’d be able to achieve it or that I’ve motivated them to quit their jobs and pursue their own goals.”

Kuteyi, who started working at Google right after graduating from college, had the notion to become a twerking instructor after arranging gym sessions for her coworkers.

“Working at Google was a lot of fun. “I remember informing all my university buddies and felt like I was doing well,” she recounted. “However, once I came to Google, I found it difficult to adapt and find my voice in a setting where I didn’t really feel included.”

Kuteyi, who is creative, decided to organize an inclusive fitness class and was surprised by how popular it was among her coworkers.

“I wanted to establish a secure atmosphere where everyone could just have fun.” “I established [programs] Bam Bam Boogie and Twerk After Work at Google, and they were a smash,” the creative entrepreneur explained.

“We had lines out the door of people wanting to participate, people peering through the windows, and it quickly became the most popular employee-led event on the Google campus,” she continued. “I dominated at Google.”

Kuteyi afterward, decided she wanted to expand the reach of her lessons, which led to her “risky” choice to leave her job.

In 2018, Kuteyi resigned from Google and launched her own company.

Less than 18 months later, the twerk instructor was forced to close her workshops due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the feisty dancing instructor refused to let her thriving business die and rapidly put everything online.

“We had to develop an online community, train instructors from all around the world, and offer lessons online,” she stated. “It was difficult for a new business to go through, but we made it.”

Kuteyi’s lessons continued to draw a passionate following thanks to social media and strong word-of-mouth referrals. Twerk After Work is available to all sorts of dancers, with students learning different routines as well as polishing their twerking talents.

“This year, my company is expecting to make $125,000,” Kuteyi happily stated. “It’s weird to consider that.” Knowing that my company will produce that makes me think, ‘Wow, lady, you really did that’ — and I’m only scratching the surface.”

The brilliant Brit is one of several millennials who have left corporate jobs in recent years to launch their own businesses.

Indeed, Kuteyi’s choice to leave her usual work occurred precisely as the epidemic caused millions to abandon the rat race, with the unprecedented number of individuals departing nicknamed “The Great Resignation.”
