The Liberian National Police arrested Apostle D. Franklin Snorton, the Founder and General Overseer of the Image of Christ Deliverance Philadelphia Central Church in Kakata, Margibi County, for allegedly raping a 21-year-old pregnant lady.
According to reports, the event occurred inside the pastor’s Mandingo Quarter communal house in Kakata. On Monday, August 23, 2021, the suspect was set to appear at Kakata Magistrarial Court.
Apostle Snorton, a rape victim’s neighbor, was detained in Kakata on Friday, August 20, 2021, after his alleged rape victim’s father reported the matter to the Liberia National Police’s Margibi County Detachment’s Women and Children Protection Section.
According to the father of the alleged rape victim, she (name protected) was asked by her grandmother to bring power bills totaling L$1,000 to Apostle Snorton in the early hours of Friday, August 20.
When his daughter came to Apostle’s house, he reportedly enticed her into a mini-office in his house, according to him.
According to the father’s account, when his daughter came to his residence, he invited her into a mini-office and demanded sex from her, threatening to murder her if she refused.
He further alleged that before the rape, Pastor Snorton had been pestering his daughter for sex. Minutes afterward, his daughter went home to notify her grandmother of the alleged rape.
He stated that his daughter’s grandmother immediately phoned him and informed the rest of the family about the incident.
He went on to add that his daughter’s trauma forced the family to submit the issue to the Liberian National Police’s Margibi County Detachment’s Women and Children Protection Section.
A medical report from the county’s One-Stop Center, where alleged rape survivors are evaluated, indicates damage to the victim’s vaginal signs of penetration, according to police sources.
However, several journalists have voiced worry that they may be assassinated after publishing the pastor’s alleged rape.
