Vice President, Bawumia And ‘Second Wife’ Celebrate 18 Years Of Marriage – Video and Photos
Today, February 14, 2022, marks the 18th anniversary of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s marriage to Samira.
‘Happy 18th Wedding Anniversary, Sweetheart,’ said Second Lady Samira Bawumia in a lovely tweet on Monday.
The couple has four children: three boys and one girl.
Samira Bawumia, a well-educated woman, is said to be Ghana’s Vice President’s second wife, as there appears to be a first wife named Ramatu.
According to reports, Ramatu is a trader based in WaleWale in Ghana’s North East Region.
She made headlines a year ago during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s second term swearing-in on January 7, 2021.
While introducing the guests at the Parliament House event, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin incorrectly identified Ramatu as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s wife.
‘Oh, this is the name I was given,’ he corrected himself before properly introducing Mrs. Samira Bawumia.
On Friday, March 12, 2021, the Vice President’s Office issued a statement insisting that Dr. Bawumia has only one wife–Samira.
According to the statement, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has “never met or seen this purported Ramatu, let alone take her as a wife.”
He went on to advise the public to “ignore the propaganda and deliberate falsehoods.”
