VGMA is collapsing because of what they did to me – Patapaa

Ghanaian musician, Patapaa, has said that the organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) have been cursed due to the ill-treatment he received from them years ago.

In an interview with radio presenter Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Patapaa expressed his lingering pain over losing the ‘Most Popular Song of the Year award to Fancy Gadam during the 2018 edition of the awards. Fancy Gadam’s song ‘Total Cheat’ triumphed over other popular artists such as Ebony, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Joe Mettle, and Captain Planet.

Patapaa believes that God has placed a curse on the VGMA organizers for their actions toward him. While he refrained from providing specific details about the curse, he explained that it signifies punishment for causing pain to someone. He also referenced an incident involving Amakye Dede, where the organizers allegedly forced him to crown an undeserving artist.

“I can see that God has placed a curse on the organizers of VGMA because of what they did to me. I don’t want to go far. If I want to go far, then I will say this, when we say curse, it means you are being punished for causing pain to someone. I don’t want to say it,” Patapaa said after four years down the lane.

“I would want to use Amakye Dede’s issue as an example but I don’t want to say it. They forced Amakye Dede to crown someone when he was not ready to do that,” he stated.

Furthermore, Patapaa accused the VGMA organizers of cheating and charging money to award artists who do not deserve it. These claims suggest a lack of fairness and transparency in the award selection process.

It remains to be seen how the VGMA organizers will respond to Patapaa’s allegations and whether they will address any concerns raised about their award scheme.
