Update – Faulty Air-condition caused the fire at Bantamahene’s Silver FM

It has been reported that the fire that destroyed the Bantamahene’s Silver FM in Kumasi was caused by a malfunctioning air conditioner that had been in that state for months, despite the fact that the station’s management was aware of it.

A person inside the business who requested anonymity said that multiple concerns to management about the defective air conditioning had fallen on deaf ears.

Ghana National Fire Services (GNFS) officials have yet to provide preliminary findings about the incident at the radio station.

The Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Asare Amankwatia VI’s station was destroyed by fire Saturday morning.

It is unknown if the radio station’s fire system was up to date since nothing was salvaged from the studio, including the studio console, monitors, TV set, microphones, and so on.

The technician on duty was not stationed in the technical department, where he should have been, as the fire might have been controlled if he had been there.

Furthermore, due to financial and economic challenges, the station runs with minimal staff, as it is unable to earn sufficient income to meet its running costs and other expenses.

This is the second fire at a large Kumasi plant. Fire destroyed portions of the recently refurbished Kejetia market, destroying around 30 booths.
