Shatta Wale responded to accusations that he was wearing fake jeans trousers by posting a photo of himself wearing a T-shirt and no trouser.
After the photo went viral, Ghanaians reacted strongly, starting a social media trend known as the #nojeanschallenge, in which his supporters began to pose without jeans to imitate the dancehall king.
The meme began four days ago, and it does not appear to be ending anytime soon, as famed Ghanaian comedian Atemuda has also taken part in the challenge.
He wrote, “CHARLES NII ARMAH, YOU SEE IT, I’M A REAL HUSTLER.”
The photo drew a lot of attention from his fans, who mostly trolled the Fante comedian for having skinny legs with too many scars.
Others thought he sullied his reputation by participating in the social media trend, yet some found it amusing.
