In the last year, young rapper Mohammed Ismail Sherif, also known as Black Sherif, has made significant waves in the music industry.
As a rising star, Black Sherif has broken streaming records and made huge strides around the world. But things haven’t always gone well for him. He had his fair share of setbacks prior to his breakthrough.
His early attempts to establish himself as an artiste were unsuccessful, as he recently revealed in an interview on Hitz FM. It includes a failure at MTN Hitmaker, where he didn’t even get past the auditions.
A video has surfaced showing Black Sherif, now simply known as Blacko, auditioning for MTN Hitmaker. He appeared in Season 8 of the reality show, which aired in 2019.
The video features Black Sherif, who is dressed in a black and white shirt, performing Okyeame Kwame’s Woara, which features Raquel.
The judges, Kaywa, Eazzy, and Richie, were impressed by Black Sherif’s performance. Eazzy invited the youngster to shake her hand, and Richie assured Sherif that his confidence matched his talent.
Despite his outstanding performance, Black Sherif was unable to advance to the main competition, which was won by Friday Night singer Lasmid.
