The system is really bad: Ghanaian Graduate with First-Class Sells Used Clothes to Survive

McSolomon Kwame Bechayenimoh Appiah obtained a first-class degree from the University of Education, Winneba. He turned to sell used clothes after many attempts to find work that failed to generate a favorable outcome. Appiah is pleading with kind-hearted individuals to assist him to find work in order to turn his bleak condition around.

Despite being born to impoverished parents, McSolomon Kwame Bechayenimoh Appiah has overcome insurmountable obstacles to obtain an education. Despite the financial difficulties, he vowed to break the cycle of extreme poverty that had prevented some of his family members from obtaining an education.

The native of Tepa in the Ahafo Ano South Municipal Assembly of Ghana’s Ashanti Region began his schooling at Onwe-Nkwanta M/A Primary School near Tepa and afterward attended Tepa R/C JHS.

Regardless of the fact that Appiah was older than many of his peers, he did not let the age difference deter him from focusing on his objective.

He finished senior high school at the age of 24 before enrolling at the University of Education, Winneba, where he earned a first-class degree in Bsc Management Education at the age of 27.

Despite his development, he still had additional obstacles to conquer, such as finding a job to begin his life. Appiah had not found work after graduation in 2019. “I’ve been unemployed since 2019.” I tried multiple times, but none of them were successful.

To make ends meet, the 33-year-old graduate had to sell used clothing. “I go to a source for worn clothes and, after selling, I keep the profit and transfer bulk money to my supplier,” he explained.

Appiah decried the arduous task of journeying for days in order to make a weekly profit of GH200 or less. He asked for support from kind-hearted folks to help him find work. “The profit margin is poor, and you end up utilizing what you made to pamper yourself; I become sick from walking for days in the hot weather.” “It isn’t easy. “I need a job to make money to invest in my business,” says the entrepreneur.
