Lwandi Mbebe tells the heartbreaking story of how he lost both his eyes and his wife when criminals broke into their homes.
Lwandi stated that he met Nguso at university and began a relationship with her. When he found his fiance, Lwandi found a woman he could marry and spend the rest of his life with.
They married after graduating. They loved each other, and they were a lovely couple.
They had a miscarriage with their first pregnancy, which was difficult for them, but after a few months, they were overjoyed when Nguso became pregnant and gave birth to their daughter.
The man went on to say that they usually send their daughter to his mother’s house on the last weekend of the month so that the two of them can have fun.
They went out one Friday night, returned home around 9 p.m., and were relaxing in front of their house.
Three men suddenly jumped over their fence and entered their home. The three men grabbed the couple and dragged them inside.
Lwanda was locked up, and when he awoke, he found himself in their guest room, with one of those men pointing a gun at him.
He begged the man not to shoot him, but when he turned around, he found his wife lying in a pool of blood.
The man attempted to wake his wife but received no response; he attempted to flee and seek assistance but became unconscious; he regained consciousness when one of his neighbors attempted to wake him up.
They summoned an ambulance and were taken to the hospital. The man was told that his wife had been shot in the chest and was in critical condition and that he had also been shot in the head.
He was assured that they would be fine, but his wife had lost a lot of blood and was unable to survive. Lwandi underwent surgery, but he lost one of his eyes.
It was difficult for Lwandi to accept the news that his wife had died, but as time passed, he was able to move on with his life.
