Tema DOVVSU senior officer ‘chops’ complainant’s husband

Mary Agbenu Edorla, the woman who was wronged, lost her husband, Stephen Tengey, to Detective Chief Inspector Divina Worlanya Afenu of the Katamanso Police Station’s Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit.

“This cop phoned my husband at odd hours, but I was led to believe she needed information from him for her investigations,” she cried to DAILY GUIDE.

The aggrieved woman indicated that it was Chief Inspector Afenu’s choice to allow Mr. Tengey to help in the first investigation.

“Now she has taken away my husband on the pretext of investigation,” the lady said.

Madam Edorla revealed that she had been legally married to Mr. Tengey for three years and that they had been happy until one day their domestic assistance vanished.

“The girl actually stole my money, and when I reprimanded her, she left the house to an unknown place,” she added.

That evening, a neighbor and a police officer brought the victim to the house, claiming they saw her loitering in an unfinished construction and that when questioned, she revealed her mother had threatened to attack her.

Madam Edorla revealed that she was summoned to the police station to provide a statement and meet with the victim’s biological parents.

My husband drove to the police station after coming home, where Chief Inspector Afenu was the case officer.

The case officer directed my husband to travel to the victim’s village after meeting with the victim’s biological parents.

When I questioned Chief Inspector Afenu why he was contacting my husband in the middle of the night, he stated it was part of their investigation (sic).

“I accepted this excuse until one day when I saw some nude pictures she had sent to the mobile phone of my husband, and that was when I discovered that they were having an affair,” she said.

She said that Chief Inspector Afenu first denied the charge until she observed her husband depart the policewoman’s home the next morning.

Her husband reportedly assaulted her when she confronted them.

“I initially reported the matter to some senior police officers at the station where the woman works, but they did nothing, so personally, I reported the case to Chief Superintendent Adu, the Divisional Commander,” she disclosed.

Chief Supt Kwadwo Badu-Adu informed the media that the lady had reported Chief Inspector Afenu’s alleged romance to his unit.

The subject is being handled by his office’s DOVVSU unit, but they haven’t obtained Stephen Tengey to assist with the investigations.
